eco – Association of the German Internet Industry, is the founding member of the world’s largest ISP Association (EuroISPA) and is one of Europe’s largest Internet Associations.
eco has been the Association of the German Internet Industry for 15 years now and currently brags over 500 member enterprises, who employ over 250,000 people and accumulate revenues of approximately 46 billion Euros annually between them. The eco association represents around 230 ‘backbone’ organisations of the German Internet and supports all enterprises that make commercial use of the Internet. It represents these companies in political and intenational areanas, encourages communication amongst market participants and supports the marketing of their products. As a network of experts, eco also deals with current issues in the industry such as Internet law, safe use of the Internet, infrastructure, online services, and e-business.
The eco Member Assembly defines the objectives, strategies and the framework for all association activities, whilst the managing board and secretariat actively represent members’ interests.
A comprehensive public relations programme and internal communications supports the broader communications strategy. To facilitate the creation of networks within the industry, eco organises open forum events (LocalTalks) and joint marketing initiatives.
eco’s main fields of expertise and activities are clustered around topics such as infrastructure and technology, content, applications, as well as legal and regulatory matters, each of which is assigned to an individual member of the board.
