Cyfuture, a leading provider of Data Center, Cloud and Outsourced Support Services has welcomed a recent report by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Technology that has asked the Government of India to take effective measures to locate internet servers for critical sectors within the country.
Observing the current scenario wherein most Indian websites and servers were being hosted outside India on account of cost advantage, counter action and legal concerns, the committee has asked the Department of Communications and IT to host more servers in India. It also advised the department to put in place effective measures to safeguard indigenous Indian servers from cyber- attacks.
“In the current digital age, cyber security is an important element of national security. There have been several instances in recent past wherein cyber-attacks inflicted significant damage on the economy and national security of various countries. Necessary steps should therefore be taken on an urgent basis to ensure data servers of key sectors such as utilities, finance and telecommunications networks are located within the country to safeguard national interests” said Mr Anuj Bairathi, Founder and CEO, Cyfuture.
“The fast rate of IT adoption by government departments in the past few years has led to significant growth of data center companies in India. It is a welcome development but still there is a lot to be achieved” he added.
Cyfuture is currently working with several government bodies and financial institutions across the country to host their data centers within India. These include Data Center and Cloud Hosting services for Assam Power Development Corporation Limited, Boards of Apprenticeship Training - Ministry of Human Resource Development, IDBI Bank, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas amongst several others.
