SCOLOCATE COMPLETES LATEST DATA CENTRE EXPANSION
ScoLocate, the leading provider of secure colocation and managed services, has completed the latest upgrade of its data centre on the Clocktower Estate in South Gyle, Edinburgh. ScoLocate’s third expansion project undertaken in partnership with Keysource, the design and build specialists, successfully delivers an additional 1MW of capacity capable of handling high density IT equipment.
This upgrade has created a dedicated data hall for an existing customer that will utilise 800kW of the added capacity, whilst the remaining 200kW will be used as part of a new managed hosting suite to enhance ScoLocate’s ITIL-based cloud services, ScoCloud.
Operating to ISO27001 security standards, ScoLocate’s Tier 3 facility provides customers with a secure location to host complex managed private cloud services as well as housing an enterprise class public cloud. In addition to hosting services, ScoLocate offer a full suite of tailored managed services, allowing customers to take advantage of ScoLocate’s expertise and focus on its core business thus driving business efficiency and performance backed up by class leading SLA’s.
Built to complement their existing data centres, again running wholly on renewable energy, ScoLocate’s new build has created Scotland’s most efficient, commercially available data centre allowing environmentally aware organisations the opportunity to run IT in a secure and sustainable environment.
The latest phase of development at the site uses Keysource’s proven Ecofris cooling solution to achieve high levels of efficiency. As a result the facility is expected to operate with free cooling for more than 98 per cent of the year and achieve an annualised PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of below 1.2. Meanwhile, the data centre also provides the highest levels of resilience with 2N electrical infrastructure, back-up power generation and N+2 cooling systems.
Roy Maxwell, Managing Director of ScoLocate added: “We have worked closely with Keysource to double the size of the data centre to provide additional capacity in line with our growth strategy. Their expertise within this marketplace means they understand our precise needs and have helped us to develop an industry-leading facility within Scotland.”
Mike West Managing Director of Keysource says: “Our continued relationship with ScoLocate is underpinned by our ability to deliver innovative and modular solutions which meet their specific needs. Whether dedicated colocation or managed services our Ecofris design ensures maximum flexibility and high levels of performance and efficiency.”
